I suspect that a fair number of people do not actually know what the term, psychology, actually means. Psychology is often believed to have started with  Sigmund Freud during the last twenty years of the nineteenth century but actually the man known as the “father of Psychology”  was and is Wilhelm Wundt the German psysician who first treated it as an independent experimental field of study. The cool thing about psychology is that it began as the study of the “soul” or “mind”  and more recent attempts to bring this contemplation into the realm of hard science has created a tension that draws a lot of interest. This effort to treat the mind as science treats, say, billiard balls, has sent many a rat down many a maze in search of cheese.
